The Bureau of Customs (BOC) has seized agricultural goods valued at more than PHP7.7 million after discovering misdeclared shipments inside four container vans at the Port of Manila. The case is a reminder of how strictly BOC enforces declaration accuracy, particularly for agricultural imports.

What Happened

Customs examiners found 12,909 boxes of fresh carrots and 1,452 boxes of egg noodles concealed inside cargo that had been declared as assorted food products. The shipments, which arrived in March 2026, were flagged after intelligence information prompted BOC to issue alert orders. Subsequent inspection confirmed the misdeclaration, leading to Warrants of Seizure and Detention and the eventual forfeiture of the goods in favor of the government.
