ASEAN Leaders Sign Maritime Cooperation Agreement

CEBU CITY - Leaders of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) signed a major maritime cooperation agreement during the 48th ASEAN Summit in Cebu, Philippines. The agreement seeks to improve maritime security, shipping, trade, environmental protection, and regional coordination across Southeast Asian waters.

ASEAN leaders also endorsed the creation of an ASEAN Maritime Centre in the Philippines. The center will help member countries coordinate maritime concerns, share information, and strengthen regional cooperation across the region.
