DA Lifts Import Ban on California Poultry Products

The Department of Agriculture has lifted the temporary ban on poultry imports from California through Department Circular 21, Series of 2026, signed by Agriculture Secretary Francisco Tiu Laurel Jr. on May 7. The import ban was originally imposed in November 2022 after California reported additional H5N1 high pathogenicity avian influenza cases in domestic birds to the World Organization for Animal Health (WOAH).

Secretary Laurel said lifting the ban will help stabilize poultry supply and prices while supporting food security and restoring trade flows without compromising biosecurity standards.
